Evaluation Of Final TV Advertisement 13Btec

1) Is your advert fit for purpose?
My advert is fit for purpose i believe that
the brief  that the group that I was in , had to produce a chocolate advertisement for a range of different ages. One that would appeal to everyone who likes eating chocolate the chocolate that the group and I  had was the Time Out chocolate bar. As the Timeout chocolate bar advertisement had to last for 30 seconds as the group that I  had to make sure that the chocolate advertisement will be linked to a new target audience and we also had to include the main chocolate target audience. The group and me  had met the brief as our groups chocolate advertisement  was 30 seconds long as we had to follow the brief our target audience of our chocolate bar advertisement is linked to the age group of 16-24 and the advertisement is suitable for both males and females and all ethnicity as you can see at 0:10.Our chocolate advertisement idea style was different to a normal Time Out chocolate bar advertisement as our idea is about a boy and girl walking in a park and the boy proposes to her but she is in shock and gives him a Time Out chocolate bar. As the concept of the idea adds more humour and comedy which hasn't been seen before for that chocolate brand. The chocolate advertisement which our group had produced kept to the target audience of the original Time Out chocolate bar.


2) Clarity of communication?
As I was in a group of three which included me Monique and Conner our presentation pitch in front of our media teacher was all in detail about our chocolate ideas of what our group wanted to look like and how all of us were going to achieve the areas that will need to be completed of our chocolate advertisement. After pitching our ideas of what the advertisement would look like all of my peers in my group had been asked questions from our teacher of our groups idea as we had to go in more detail as all of us had to re-imagine some of the aspects of the planning of the chocolate advertisement. As I was talking about how we would stick to the rules of the cap codes as viewed at 5:51 and I also stated how our advertisement would break any piracy or legal term which is also viewed at 7:03 of our idea from our pitch of our advertisement to our teacher who was listening. For our Time Out chocolate bar advert the presentation which I was going to into more detail on what the storyline was all about to our teacher the presentation didn't include any words it was visual with images so for my part of the pitch was talking in more depth about our group's ideas on our advertisement.



3) Appropriateness to audience compared with original intentions?
Our chocolate advertisement contained a new target audience as the chocolate advertisement would targeted to 16-23 year old as it was displayed on the brief which was given to me before producing the whole planning of the advertisement as my part of the group I really think that I have done my job well to make the Time Out chocolate advertisement more appealing as the chocolate advertisement story-line contain a comedy theme of a couple.The shots that the group that I was in for our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement the shots were establishing shot of the park as our advert was set in Goodmayes Park  and our props were a ring and both of the couple which were Monique and Conner as the chocolate advertisement idea fitted with the location because different advertisements of Time Out hasn't been filmed in a park. the other camera shot that was used for our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement was close ups, medium shot and also a long shot was used to show our idea of the couple walking in the park.













4) Effectiveness of techniques?
In our chocolate advertisement  it containes different types of technical language as when editing the shot our group added an black and white effect in the background as you can see at the bottom of this section. We created our own new and improved slogan and our Time Out chocolate advertisement also contained graphics of our slogan which you can see at  the time code at 0:28 " Everyone needs a Time Out"as the camera language that we also used in our shot was at the end as you can see at 0:30 the filming wasn't on the tripod as we filmed hands free. Also, when editing our final outcome of the chocolate advertisement of the Time Out chocolate bar we used quick cuts of the story as you can see at 0:02-0:06 which also carried on through the entire of the Time Out chocolate bar advertisement.


5) Effectiveness of content?
My chocolate advertisement was filmed for a normal chocolate advertisement as the lead actors were Monique and Conner as they were the couple for the role i was the cameraman that was my  job when producing the Time Out chocolate advertisement i was the main cameraman as I filmed the different shots in various areas of where the shots were recorded in Goodmayes Park. As our advertisement contains humour as the concept of the Time Out chocolate bar as the story-line  is about a couple walking in a park happily after the boyfriend proposes to the girlfriend  she is  so shocked and rejects him and the boy picks up the Time Out chocolate bar and shakes off being rejected by eating the chocolate and then walking away as this is seen from 0:00-0:30.as the target audience of our chocolate advertisement is targeted to audience in the United Kingdom only.

6) Effectiveness of conventions?
 In my Time Out chocolate advertisement we used lots of conventions the main one was making sure that the advertisement would be of the duration of the Time Out chocolate advertisement would be 30 seconds. When editing I had to make sure that the whole concept of the Time Out chocolate advertisement would be kept to 30 seconds, not beyond that time. I have completed this as it stated in the brief that I had been this  when planning the idea. As the timing would be suitable for the audience when viewing so the audience so the audience wouldn't become board The next convention that I have used in my Time Out chocolate advertisement is the theme music as it is played from 0;00-0:30.as this would make the advertisement more eye-catching by including the music which fits with concept of the idea. As the music which I put on my Time Out chocolate advertisement was only instrumental and it didn't include lyrics from the song as my concern of including the lyrics would not suit the advertisement when it has being viewed.

7) Impact of work?
After completing my Time Out chocolate advertisement my thoughts about the completed advertisement are that I think  the advertisement of the chocolate contained a positive message as this will tell the audience to purchase the Time Out chocolate bar as the advertisement contained a story of a couple's love  who are deeply in love. I also think that both the old advertisement of Time Out chocolate target audience and the new re-branded audience would be related to the Time Out chocolate advertisement as it contained a new generation of actors as the chocolate has to be upgraded from its previous model as you can see in our advertisement at 0;27  by the change of the packaging. Also, our advertisement contained different ethical people which tell the viewers that the chocolate is for everyone to have not just for one race the advertisement is treating everyone equal as you can see this at 0;04 throughout  the entire advertisement.












8-9) Technical qualities &  Aesthetic qualities ?
I think that our groups filming and also the editing was very successful as our group filmed our shot perfectly and we had back up shots in case if the filming didn't fit as I completed my filming all in one day as well as the editing of our advertisement of the chocolate me and my group had two weeks to complete the editing as our group editing was also successful with the filming as my peers didn't have any problems when creating our chocolate advertisement. when completing our group post production we also didn't find any problems as we completed the work. The setting of our advertisement such as the light was natural as I filmed the shot when it was sunny but I added an old fashion effect of the heritage of the company of Cadburys. The costumes of the actors were wearing in the Time Out chocolate bar was casual to date as the clothing was from a new generation where you haven't see in a Time Out chocolate bar advertisement before as the advert has been updated as all of the quantities had connected as the advert was clear  to under the concept of the idea to the target audience.

Production Log 4

What progress did you make since your last entry?
After the last production entry that i did our group started to transfer our footage onto the Apple Imac so i could start to edit our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement on a software called Final Cut Express at the end our group had a rough version of our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement of all of our scenes in the right places but i dint include any music or graphics to our group Time Out chocolate bar advertisement. The out come of the rough copy of our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement  looked good for a 30 second chocolate advertisement and me and our group were happy what the editing looked like of the advertisement of our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement.

What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
The logistical challenges that I faced during this week production log 4 was when putting all of our footage in order that i had filmed a certain footage that i had film didnt not connect well with our other shots of footage that i had film for our group. Which lead for our group to film that shot again the next day at our location where we film which was at Goodmayes Park when i and Monique and Conner didnt have a lesson to get it right and edit it.

What technical challenges did you face this week and how did you overcome them?
The technical challenges that i and our group faced in this week production log 4 was finding the right music that would fit our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement we found a piece of music that would go well with our chocolate advertisement but our group had difficulties as some of YouTube converter websites were blocked on downloading it  but our group overcame this by using different YouTube converter website that we found which was not blocked.

What targets do you aim to achieve before your next entry?
My targets and our groups targets to achive before next week is to make sure that we included all of the music on final cut express on our advert and also to add the graphics for the next entry.

Production Log 3

What progress did you make since your last entry?
After the last production entry that i had completed filming the Time Out chocolate bar with Monique and Conner as i was the camera person and both Monique and Conner was the acts that were in our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement when filming our Time Out chocolate bar i include an variety of camera shots for example long shot, medium shot and also an close up of whats happening in our chocolate advertisement and i also recorded more than once so we as a group when editing can chose which footage section would suit our Time Out chocolate advertisement.

What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
The logistical challenges that i had face in this weeks log was i could film some of our filming sections as we didn't have the Time Out chocolate bar to film with. But I saw on our production schedule that me and our group had another day that i had filmed the following day with both Monique and Conner. The following day helped so when filming the Time Out chocolate advertisement i had to remember the camera shots that i had to film for our group when filming each of the shot i crossed out the shots that i had film so i wouldn't get confused on what scene that i had to film next.

What technical challenges did you face this week and how did you overcome them?
Image result for media filming cameraThe technical challenges that i faced in this weeks production log 3 was when recording our shots because our group didnt have the Time Out chocolate bar so i couldn't help certain shots that needed to be filmed which were on our groups storyboard but I overcame this as our group purchased the Time Out chocolate bar and then i started to film the rest of our chocolate advertisement.

What targets do you aim to achieve before your next entry?
My targets that i'm aiming to achieve before next weeks entry of log 4 is to have our group Time Out chocolate bar advertisement all edited and finished.

What progress did you make since your last entry?
After the last production entry that i had i finished our groups story-board for our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement and to also  I had to transfer the storyboard and the pre-production work onto my blogger account and i also had to make sure the work that i was complete right so I had to show my teacher the pre-production work to see if the our group of me and Monique and Conner could film our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement during our half term holidays.

What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
The logistical challenges that i face this week was the storyboard as i had to change some more features of our idea i couldn't finish it earlier because i had an exam so the people in the group that im in had to wait a week because of my exam that i sat. I had to make sure that the storyboard had to be completed so the group that im in could film all of our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement during our half term holiday also after finishing our groups storyboard i was told that i then needed to change some of the aspects of our idea so i had to draw the ideas of the storyboard again.

What technical challenges did you face this week and how did you overcome them?
The technical challenges that i faced this weeks production log 2 was i just had to re-do the storyboard by adding our groups new ideas of our Time Out chocolate bar in the storyboard and just draw the images again to state whats happening in each of the section of our groups idea for our chocolate advertisement advertisement.

What targets do you aim to achieve before your next entry?

What progress did you make since your last entry?
Today is my first day of my entry of producing an chocolate advert of an Time Out chocolate bar I started on the pre-production work that was separated work between the group that i was in on producing the Time Out chocolate bar advert with Monique and Conner. The pre-production that was included such as the storyboard of the idea that our group was planning for the Time Out chocolate bar advert and where the Time Out chocolate bar would be set in location and then I had to transfer the storyboard and the pre-production work onto my blogger account.

What logistical challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
The logstical challenges that i had faced this week for this production log was to change some features of our idea for our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement as this needed to be completed because Monique whos in the group that i'm needed to see the storyboard because she needed to include the voice overs where we will include them in our chocolate advertisement and also how long would the voice over would be so i had to complete this and i also  had to my storyboard that i did with my teacher to see if our storyboard was ok.

What technical challenges did you face this week and how did you overcome them?
This week I didnt face any technical challenges because I was just adding the final touches to the storyboard of our  groups idea for our Time Out chocolate bar advertisement.

Pitch Reflection

How well did you carry out and apply your audience and product research?

The pitch of the Time Out chocolate bar the group that I was in for presenting was with Monique & Connor our powerpoint we had to make sure that our slides had the correct information about the chocolate and also various information like for example our questionnaire that we had created to find out what people likes and dislikes are for example what movies they like wacthing and what music genere that they listen to and also do they eat any chocolate  are and if they have ever heard of a Time Out chocolate bar before or have the tried it as we had to produce a pie chart of the result that we had gain when providing
people with our questionnaire of what they think as we went on to speak about it on more detail such as how the Time Out chocolate bar advertisement will appeal also to our target audience and whats their likes and also dislikes.

How well did you present your research/idea?
The research that we had found out for our Time Out chocolate advert as our group statied the target audience that our Time Out chocolate advert was linked to the market research slide and also the ethos slide that we presented of the company of the Time Out chocolate bar was Cadburys and if our idea of the story would be linked to Cadburys because in various of their adverts they include couples that is showing of the chocolate bar. I think i presented my part of the presention fairly as I went into more detail of the pitch of the Time Out chocolate bar as spoke about the cap codes rule and provided example stating how we as a group should break the rules and also the cap codes such as music coppyright and location as  mentioned how our group should ask permission for both using a song for our chocolate bar advert and also filming our chocolate bar for example i stated on we might going to film our chocolate advert in Goodmayes Park so we would need permission as the park is private property because if we didnt get permission to film our advert in Goodmayes Park this would break one of the cap codes of the ASA.

How would you improve your pitch in terms of a) content b) research and c) presentation?
I think that the group that i was in pitched  as in a good manner as each of us statied our
chocolate advert ideas as each of us spoke in more detail  as we didnt include a lot of writing as we put visuals such as images on our powerpoint so we could describe each of the slide in more deatil such as the target audience that will be linked to our Time Out chocolate bar advert. But when i was presenting my part of the chocolate pitch i was nervous as i forgot what to say but i overcame this by looking at the visuls that were on the powerpoint then I spoke about them in more detail such for example the cap codes that i presented were coppyright and the content that our Time out chocolate advert must follow and must not break the rules.

Background of the ASA:
The Advertising Standards Authority was introduced to television in 1955 as the  company which looks for legislation  The company changed their rules to look after the consumers protection which is from the trading regulation which was called unfair which included business safety from a marketing receiving false information of the regulations as the  Advertising Standards Authority hasn't been changed.

The roles of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in the regulation of advertisements:
Advertising Standards Authority is based in the United Kingdom which is a self-supporting company  which covers the various types of media roles jobs. As the Advertising Standards Authority is to look at every advert to see if they are ok to be aired on television in the United Kingdom. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is financed by the advertisers which receives the finance of the broadcasting advertising standards board of finance which purchases open spaces to air an advertisement to be seen.

What is the legal standing of the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) in relation to Ofcom:
The Advertising Standards Authority company would make an approved adjudication to have a advertisement to stay on televisions or removed from the viewers negative responses of an advertisement which the Advertising Standards Authority would say to keep on air or to remove the advert from television which will not sit to the guidelines of rules that Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has created which in result the advertisement creatures would have to change one of their ideas in the advert and it to be replaced to the viewers can view it on television.

What are the procedures of the organisation:
If the viewers doesn't like an advertisement which is being aired on television only one complaint for that particular advertisement to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) would conduct an test  of the advertisement which would not be put on television as the Advertising Standards Authority would make their final decision if the advertisement would be taken off television  as the Advertising Standards Authority would see for support from the broadcaster and advertiser to see if the advertisement was suitable to be shown on television.


What are the key parts of the code governing food and soft drink advertising and children and adverting that you will be important to bear in mind for your advert:

advertisements  the guidelines are given to see if the advert that is aired  is not providing the viewers with a negative source of information of the product. While creating my advertisement of a chocolate bar i will make sure that i won't provide the viewers with a negative information about the chocolate bar which would be advertised to the viewers.


This advertisement that I have chosen to talk about is Lucozade Sports which states to the viewers how this sports drink product is greater than water as the slogan is of the Lucozade sports advert states to the viewers that this sports drink product hydrates the body as we can see this at 0:14. But this Lucozade Sports advertisement product includes a large amount of sugar which is confusing the viewers that are watching this sport drink product advertisement. As this Lucozade Sports drink product which is stating to the viewers that this sports drink would provide you with more energy and keep you more hydrated than drinking water as this advertisement displays active people in the advertisement which also states to the viewers that this Lucozade Sports drink product would give you more  energy than drinking water as this is false which leads to the advertisement being banned from TV. 


This advertisement that I have chosen to talk about is this Red Bull Christmas advert because the story of this drink product advertisement was all about the three wise men. But this advertisement displays  four wise men to the viewers  which is containing a Red Bull pack as this makes fun of religion of Christians,  viewers that are watching this advertisement it is  stating to them that Red Bull gives you wiings which we can see this at 0:25 this advertisement is inappropriate  which resulted to this Red Bull drink advertisement to be banned from television to be viewed for the viewers.



This Morrisons advertisement is persuading the viewers to purchase their product which is a quarter pounder as this advertisement displays to the viewers a mother cooking the Morrisons quarter pounder meat burger for her child as this is shown to them at 0:14 as this advertisement is stating to the viewers that you can eat healthy as this advert includes vegetables for the quarter pounder burger which is displayed to the viewers at 0:23 as the child is removing the vegetables from the food as this Morrisons advertisement did not meet the rules of the ASA which resulted to be broken as this advertisement displayed unhealthy food to consume as this means that children would be influenced to copy the advert and by seeing the child take out the vegetables and healthy food to do the same. As this Morrisons advert has ruled out to be unhealthy to consume for kids as this advertisement was banned for the viewers. 


This type of banned advertisement that I have chosen to talk about is this Tango drink product advert which is below. As this Tango drink product is providing the viewers with false information about the drink product to the viewers as it is trying to say to them that this drink is healthy by including fruit in the advertisement which is being dropped from the sky which we can see this at 0:15. Which also states to the viewers that this Tango drink product doesn't contain real fruit as this product will on contain a flavour which is full of sugars which provides  a false information  to the viewers that are watching this advertisement. As this fizzy drink product advert is negative and contains a lot of sugars which is not allowed for kids as we can see this at 0:56.
